Brawdy Construction Joins U.S.G.B.C.
December 2009

Brawdy Construction is proud to announce it has become a member of the National U.S. Green Building Council and the New York Upstate Chapter. As green building standards take a stronger hold in the construction industry we recognize that being a part of the process not only is important, but a necessity. We can help you obtain LEED credits in the areas applicable to our scope of work. Generally we are involved in 22 out of the 100 points on a LEED registered project. Based upon the credits available under the LEED 2009 new construction point system, we are available to assist in the following: Sustainable Sites credit 7.1, Materials and Resources credits 1 through 5, Innovation in Design credit 1, and Regional Priority credit 1.
One of the biggest issues in the green building movement is the whole construction process and its inherent hurdles; LEED adds another significant hurdle that a project may need to clear. LEED goals should be a team effort early in the construction planning process because it requires a lot of organization, documentation, and coordination. Utilizing materials which are comprised of the necessary recycled content and or regional extraction is a key to qualify for LEED points. Many options are readily available that meet or exceed specifications without increasing the financial or scheduling burden of a project. We have the knowledge and wherewithal to assess a project and recommend the many green options which are available in the Western New York Area.
Brawdy Construction is very excited to be involved in the green building movement in Western New York and would like to help in any way possible.
